Tatra Mountains VII

Our trail led us to the valley. Higher in the Tatra Mountains there were still patches of snow, but here spring flowers already bloomed. Water was crystal clear, coming from the melted snow and very, very cold.

No trees grow at this level, only short, hardy bushes. Grass appears in the spring and quite often you can see a kind of goat or antelope called chamois grazing in a distance. They are usually grey-brown and blend perfectly into the stony mountains. We spotted a couple on one of our stops, but they were quite a distance from us. They avoid people and will run away if approached.
