Brzeg – The Castle of Silesian Piasts

I am back from my extended vacation in Poland. It was simply wonderful to visit my country again, travel all around it, see familiar and new places, spend so much time with my family and friends, eat excellent food, and collect new experiences and new photographs that enrich my memory. Now I want to share all that with you 🙂

Today I invite you to Brzeg.

In our Polish medieval history we have a long tradition of the rule of kings that belonged to the line of Piasts. The first Polish monarch, Mieszko I, was born c.930. The last ruling king, Kazimierz Wielki, died in 1370. But the blood line continued until 1675 when the last duke George William of Legnica died. His was laid to rest in the crypt of Brzeg castle.
