One of those places where a beautiful, old Jewish cemetery is taken care of is my hometown, Gliwice. Here you can take a stroll under the canopy of very tall trees overgrown with vines and find names that will perhaps be familiar. At least one is to me – the family name Troplowitz. Oskar Troplowitz, who was a German farmacist born in Gliwice, was the co-developer of the well known cosmetic – Nivea cream.
His is one of those grand, mausoleum – like monuments.

Interesting. I love visiting old cemeteries. I have visited a couple in Poland, In Warsaw it was huge – beautiful and sad. Abandoned.

Yes. Sometimes they are. I love visiting them too. I like the contemplative atmosphere that lingers there.
