Bernini’s Details / WPC

This strong and expressive hand pressing into the delicate body was sculpted in marble by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the famous Italian sculptor of the Baroque Era. The hand and the thigh belong to one of his beautiful sculptures, so full of passion  – The Rape of Proserpina. I would leave it like that, just as a detail that speaks for itself, but I think you will appreciate the full scale of emotions if I show you the whole sculpture. Here it is – Proserpina abducted by Pluto, the god of the underworld:

Galleria Borghese in Rome.
