I spent Mother’s Day in Longwood Gardens, soaking up colors and fragrances. Huge red poppies were blooming by the square fountain. I found all the stages of opening of the flowers fascinating. These huge poppies look so fragile, especially when their petals are still a bit crumpled, but they remind me so much of butterflies emerging from their cocoons.
There will be more to see from my visit to Longwood Gardens. May I invite you to visit my sister’s blog, Awa on the Road, to see what she admired there last year? A year ago we stopped at the same fountain but different colors of poppies were in bloom 🙂

Oh what a gorgeous transition of this bud to poppy. Beautiful. 😀

Thank you 🙂 I did not think of this transition as I was photographing them. Later, when encouraged by your challenge I found that they can be arranged this way. So, it is thanks to you, Cee 🙂

Przepiękne są te zbliżenia. Mój aparat tego nie potrafi. Widzę też, że wstawiłaś pokaz slajdów. Musisz mi pokazać, jak to robić 🙂

Thank you so much 🙂 I have been away from the blogosphere for a while, I was visiting Rome for a week and had absolutely no time to post anything.

How beautiful. Longwood Gardens is my favorite garden. We try to go at least three or four times a year.

Do you live close to it? I have about 2 hour drive.

We actually live 2 and half hours away in NJ but there is no other garden like it. It is worth the 5 hour round trip.
